IMD Alerts: Deep Depression And Low Pressure To Cause Heavy Rain In India

The India Meteorological Department predicts heavy rainfall across various regions of India due to a deep depression over Bihar and Jharkhand, and low pressure areas in Rajasthan.

India has been experiencing significant rainfall in various regions recently. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported a deep depression over southwest Bihar and northwest Jharkhand, along with a Low Pressure Area over southwest Rajasthan and its vicinity.

Rainfall Warning Over Northwest India

The IMD predicts widespread light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning over Jammu-Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. Scattered to fairly widespread rainfall is expected in Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, while isolated to scattered showers are likely in Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi throughout the week.

Isolated heavy rainfall is anticipated in Jammu-Kashmir from August 3 to 5, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan from August 3 to 10. Punjab will see heavy rain on August 3, 4, and 7, while Haryana-Chandigarh will experience it on August 4 and 7.

Rainfall Warning Over West And Central India

In West and Central India, light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning is expected throughout the week. Extremely heavy rainfall is predicted in the ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra, Konkan, and Goa on August 3 and 4. Heavy to very heavy rain is likely at isolated locations in Konkan and Goa until August 7 and in Madhya Maharashtra until August 6.

Vidarbha may experience heavy rain on Sunday, while Marathwada is expected to receive it on August 3 and 4.

Rainfall Warning Over East And Northeast India

The IMD forecasts light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning across East and Northeast India during the week. Extremely heavy rain is expected in Meghalaya on Sunday. Assam and Meghalaya are likely to witness very heavy rain on August 6, while Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura will see it on August 5.

"Isolated heavy rainfall very likely over Odisha on August 3 and from August 6 to 8; Gangetic West Bengal on August 6; Jharkhand on August 6 and 7; Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura; Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim; Assam & Meghalaya during August 3-10," stated the MeT Department.

Rainfall Warning Over South India

The weather agency predicts light to moderate rainfall over Coastal Karnataka, Lakshadweep, Kerala & Mahe, Karnataka with isolated showers over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Telangana, and Rayalaseema for the next five days.

Very heavy rain is expected at isolated places in South Interior Karnataka on Sunday and coastal Karnataka on August 3 and 4. "Heavy rainfall very likely at isolated places over Kerala & Mahe; Tamil Nadu during August 3-5; Coastal Karnataka during August 3-6; North Interior Karnataka on August 3; South Interior Karnataka on August 3 &4," according to the IMD.

The IMD's warnings highlight the need for preparedness as various regions brace for significant weather events. Residents should stay updated with local advisories for safety measures during this period of intense rainfall.
