Telangana's CM Request for Funds for Hyderabad Metro Phase 2

Revanth Reddy said the state government wants quick release of funds from the Indian Railway Finance Corporation (IRFC) and faster approval for Phase 2 of the metro project. According to the proposal submitted by Telangana, Hyderabad Metro Phase 2 will cover 122.9 km through seven corridors and is expected to cost about ₹38,595 crore. The state sees the project as very important for improving public transport, reducing road traffic, and supporting the city's future growth.

After the meeting, the Chief Minister said the discussion with the Railway Minister was constructive and that he would continue talks with the Centre. He was also scheduled to meet Union Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, further to discuss the release of IRFC funds and project clearances. The state government is pushing for early approvals so that work on the expansion can begin without more delay.

Hyderabad Metro Phase 2 Led to Disagreements Regarding Fund Allocation

The issue of Hyderabad Metro Phase 2 has recently become politically sensitive, with disagreements between the Telangana government and the Centre over funding and loan conditions. There has also been debate over the disbursement of an IRFC loan related to the Hyderabad Metro. Even so, the latest meeting signals that the state government is continuing efforts to secure support from the Centre and move the project ahead.
