the cyclone's path, independent weather experts believe it will likely make landfall in Andhra Pradesh.

Disturbances Over the Bay of Bengal & Arabian Sea

Apart from this system, three other weather disturbances over the Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea are expected to bring more rainfall to Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka in the coming days. The northeast monsoon (NEM), which began only last week, has already brought heavy rain across Tamil Nadu. In the 24 hours ending 8:30 a.m. on Friday, Pallipet in Tiruvallur district recorded 15 cm of rain, while Nalumukku in Tirunelveli received 12 cm.

Deep Depression

According to IMD, the low-pressure area formed early Friday over the southeast Bay of Bengal under the influence of an upper air cyclonic circulation near the South Andaman Sea. It is expected to move west-northwestwards, strengthening into a Depression by October 25, a Deep Depression by October 26, and a Cyclonic Storm by October 27 morning over the southwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal.

Rainfall Intensity

As a result, parts of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh are likely to receive moderate to heavy rains from Saturday to Tuesday. Weather blogger Pradeep John noted that the system will most likely turn into a cyclone heading toward Andhra Pradesh. However, the exact landfall location and rainfall intensity will become clearer by Sunday. If the cyclone moves toward Andhra, Tamil Nadu may experience comparatively less rainfall before another low-pressure area forms in early November.
