Gujarat Floods: IMD Predicts Very Heavy Rain From Sept 1 Due to Cyclone Asna, Issues Orange Alert

Heavy Rains Predicted in Gujarat

Gujarat has been experiencing heavy rains recently. The IMD forecast indicates very heavy rains in several districts including Surendranagar, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Porbandar, Junagadh, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Morbi, Dwarka, Gir Somnath, Botad, Kutch, and Diu. Additionally, a yellow alert for heavy rains has been issued for South Gujarat districts such as Bharuch, Surat, Dang, Tapi, Navsari, Valsad and the regions of Daman and Dadara Nagar Haveli.

Rainfall Warnings Across Karnataka

Karnataka is also expected to receive heavy to very heavy rains in Uttara Kannada, Udupi, and Dakshina Kannada districts. Furthermore, Belagavi, Bidar, Kalaburgi, Yadgir, Raichur, Vijayapura, Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, Kodagu and Hassan districts are predicted to experience heavy rain accompanied by wind speeds of 35-45 kmph.

Forecast for Other Regions

In other parts of India: Vidarbha will see isolated very heavy rains on September 1 and 2; Chhattisgarh on August 31 and September 1; East Madhya Pradesh on September 2; Gujarat Region from September 2-4; West Madhya Pradesh on September 3; and Madhya Maharashtra from September 3-5. Konkan & Goa are expected to have isolated heavy rains from September 1-5; Marathwada from September 1-3; and Saurashtra and Kutch from September 2-4.

Odisha is likely to experience isolated very heavy rains on August 31. Heavy rains are also predicted over Odisha from August 30 to September 1; Assam & Meghalaya; Nagaland; Manipur; Mizoram & Tripura from August 30 to September 3; Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim on August 31; Arunachal Pradesh from August 31 to September 3.

South India Weather Updates

In South India: Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam along with Coastal Karnataka are expected to have isolated very heavy rains on August 31. Telangana will experience similar conditions from August 31 to September 2. Isolated heavy rains are also predicted over Rayalaseema and Interior Karnataka on August 31; Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam and Telangana from August 30 to September 3.

Northwest India Rain Forecast

The IMD predicts isolated heavy rains over Jammu-Kashmir; Ladakh; Gilgit-Baltistan; Muzaffarabad on September 2 and 3. Himachal Pradesh; Punjab; Haryana will see heavy rains on September 2. Uttarakhand will experience these conditions from September 2-4 while Uttar Pradesh will have them from September 1-3. East Rajasthan is expected to receive heavy rainfall from September 1-5 while West Rajasthan will see it on September 4.
