The Chennai Unified Metropolitan Transport Authority (CUMTA) has announced a special limited-time offer called the 'One Rupee Ticket' for people using the Chennai One daily commute app. This new campaign, launched on Thursday, allows passengers to travel on Chennai's buses, metro trains, or suburban trains for just ₹1. To get
this offer, users must make the payment through the BHIM Payments App or Navi UPI.
One Rupee Ticket Offer
As mentioned in the official press release, the offer is valid only for tickets that are actually used for travel. It cannot be combined with any other discount or promotional scheme. The ₹1 ticket can also be used only once during the offer period by each registered Chennai One account. Commuters can choose any one mode of bus, metro, or suburban train to use this special price.
Chennai One App Usage
The Chennai One app was introduced by the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on September 22. Within the first month of its launch, the app recorded impressive numbers: more than 5.5 lakh registered users, 14 lakh journey searches, and 8.1 lakh tickets booked. According to I. Jeyakumar, Member Secretary of CUMTA, said the main aim of the app is to encourage more people to choose public transport for their daily travel and to promote digital, cashless payments.

The press release also mentioned that users will get cashback on later transactions during the campaign period. All the details and terms for the cashback are available inside the Chennai One app. Through this initiative, CUMTA hopes to make daily commuting more affordable and convenient, while also encouraging people to explore the different public transport options available in Chennai. The ₹1 ticket offer serves as an incentive for new users to try the app and experience a smoother, digital way of buying tickets.
