Konkan Railway has announced that it will operate 254 special trains to manage the expected increase in passenger demand during the upcoming Ganpati festival, which will be celebrated on September 14. The special services will help people travel comfortably to their hometowns and other destinations during the festival period.
Ganapati Special Trains
Of the 254 special trains, 246 will be operated in coordination with Central Railway. These services will run between September 11 and September 27 on several important routes. The trains will connect major cities and towns in Maharashtra, Goa and Karnataka, making it easier for passengers to reach the Konkan region during the busy festival season.
Ganapati Special Trains Routes
The special trains will operate on routes connecting Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) in Mumbai with Sawantwadi, Ratnagiri, Madgaon and Mangaluru. Additional services will run between Lokmanya Tilak Terminus and Ratnagiri, Madgaon and Mangaluru. There will also be special trains between Pune and Ratnagiri and between Pune and Sawantwadi.
Konkan Railway has also planned eight additional special trains in coordination with Western Railway. These trains will originate from stations such as Bandra Terminus in Mumbai, Vadodara and Vishvamitri in Gujarat, Bhusawal in Maharashtra and Valsad in Gujarat. These services are expected to provide more travel options for people heading towards the Konkan region for the festival.
Advisory for Passengers
The railway has advised passengers to check the National Train Enquiry System (NTES) or the Konkan Railway app for the exact dates and timings, as the special trains will operate on different days.
Booking for all the special trains has already started. Railway officials have encouraged passengers to book these services in advance instead of relying only on regular trains. The additional services are expected to reduce pressure on regular trains and make festival travel smoother and more convenient for passengers.
