easily during the festival season. This number is much higher than last year, when 1,144 special train trips were run to meet the holiday demand.

Holi Special Trains to Operate

The special trains will operate on many busy routes and connect important cities and regions. The East Central Railway (ECR) zone will run the highest number with 285 special trains, making it a major part of the effort. Other railway zones will also contribute large numbers of services. The Western Railway plans to run 231 trains, the Central Railway will operate 209, and the South Central Railway will run 160 special services. Smaller numbers of Holi trains will also be run by other zones such as Northern, North Western, North Central, North Eastern, East Coast, South Western, West Central, Southern, Konkan, and North Frontier Railways to spread capacity across different parts of the country.

How Will These Trains Help?

These special trains are intended to manage the sharp increase in passengers who travel home or to other cities for the festival. The railways hope the extra services will reduce crowding on normal trains and help people reach their destinations more comfortably and on time. Railway officials say that planning and running these trains in advance will make journeys smoother during one of the busiest travel periods of the year.

Moreover, Indian Railways' decision to run more than 1,400 special trains shows its effort to improve travel options and address the heavy passenger load during Holi.
