Residents of Delhi, Noida, Gurugram, and other parts of the National Capital Region (NCR) experienced heavy rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds for the second consecutive night, bringing a welcome break from the intense summer heat. Due to the severe weather conditions, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Delhi and nearby areas.

Delhi Rain Alert
According to the IMD, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, heavy rainfall, and powerful winds are likely to continue. Wind speeds may reach 60-70 kmph, while gusts could touch 80 kmph in some places. In a few areas, winds may become even stronger, creating dangerous conditions for commuters and residents. Authorities have advised people to stay indoors during storms and avoid unnecessary travel.
Delhi Weather Records
The recent spell of rain has led to a significant drop in temperatures across the region. Gurugram recorded a minimum temperature of around 20°C, providing much-needed relief from the scorching heat that had affected Delhi-NCR over the past several weeks. However, weather experts say that humidity levels may remain high, causing some discomfort despite the cooler temperatures.
Advisory for Residents
The changing weather pattern is being linked to weather systems over northwestern India. The IMD has warned that thunderstorms, lightning, and scattered rainfall may continue over the next few days. Residents are advised to keep track of weather updates, especially those planning outdoor activities or travel.
While the rain has brought relief from the heat, it may also lead to traffic congestion, waterlogging, and disruptions in daily life. Authorities have urged citizens to remain cautious, secure loose objects outdoors, and follow safety advisories issued by local administrations.
