Delhi Weather Alert

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the city is expected to have mostly clear skies during the day. The maximum temperature is likely to reach around 34°C. The weather department has not issued any warning for rain or thunderstorms on Friday.

Delhi Weather on Thursday

Delhi had already seen slightly cooler weather on Thursday, with partly cloudy skies throughout the day. Safdarjung, which is considered Delhi's main weather station, recorded a maximum temperature of 33.6°C. This was 5.7 degrees below the normal temperature for this time of year and 1.8 degrees lower than the previous day. At the same time, night temperatures increased at several places across the city. Safdarjung recorded a minimum temperature of 23.8°C, while Palam recorded 21.5°C. Lodhi Road and Ridge weather stations also reported higher minimum temperatures on Wednesday night.

Reason Behind the Temperature Change

An IMD official explained that partly cloudy skies caused this temperature change. Clouds trap heat near the Earth's surface during the night, making nights warmer. During the daytime, clouds reduce direct sunlight, leading to lower daytime temperatures. The weather department has predicted that temperatures will slowly rise again in the coming days as clear skies are expected to continue. According to the IMD forecast, Delhi's maximum temperature may touch around 36°C on Friday and could rise to nearly 38°C on Saturday and Sunday.

Minimum temperatures over the weekend are expected to stay between 24°C and 27°C. While the recent showers have provided temporary relief from the heat, warmer weather is likely to return gradually across the national capital over the next few days.
