Delhi-Noida travel may become faster with a proposed six-lane elevated road connecting the Rajnigandha Underpass with Sector 60. The project, with an estimated cost of around Rs 700 crore, is expected to reduce travel time between the DND side and Sector 60 to around 10 minutes, compared with nearly 30
minutes during heavy traffic. The revised alignment of the elevated road has already been approved, but construction has not started yet. The Detailed Project Report (DPR) is currently being prepared by IIT Roorkee.
Route of the Proposed Elevated Road
The elevated corridor will start near the Rajnigandha Underpass in Sector 3 and run along Master Plan Road-1. It will pass through Sector 3, Sector 10, the Sector 12-22 T-point, and Sector 57 before reaching Sector 60.
At Sector 60, the elevated road will connect with Master Plan Road-2. The alignment has been extended by around 1.5 km from the earlier plan, increasing the total length of the elevated stretch to approximately 6 km.
DND to Sector 60 in 10 Minutes
The proposed road is expected to provide a faster route for commuters travelling from the DND side towards northern Noida. It will be a signal-free corridor, allowing vehicles to avoid several busy intersections in central Noida.
At present, the journey can take nearly 30 minutes during traffic congestion. Once operational, the travel time is expected to come down to around 10 minutes.
The corridor could also benefit people travelling between South Delhi, central Noida, Sector 57, Sector 60 and nearby industrial areas.
Benefit for Greater Noida West
The project could also make travel easier for residents of Greater Noida West and the 7X sectors travelling towards Delhi. Traffic from these areas often passes through central Noida before reaching the DND route. The elevated connection could help commuters avoid busy junctions around Rajnigandha and other parts of central Noida.
When Will Construction Begin?
There is no confirmed construction or opening date yet. The Noida Authority approved the revised alignment in July after IIT Roorkee presented its feasibility assessment. The institute is now preparing the DPR. Further approvals and contractor selection will be required before construction can begin.
