Delhi's metro network is set to grow significantly, with plans to add 97 km of new routes through seven corridors and 65 stations, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced on Sunday. Metro Phase-V (B) is estimated at around Rs 48,204.56 crore. These new corridors aim to improve connectivity in outer and developing parts of the city, and the government plans to complete four priority corridors by 2029.
Delhi Metro Corridors
• The first corridor will run between the Dhansa Bus Stand in Najafgarh and Nangloi. This 11.859 km route will be fully elevated and include nine stations, with interchange options at Nangloi and Dhansa Bus Stand.
• The second corridor will connect the Central Secretariat to Kishangarh over 15.969 km. Most of this stretch (13.731 km) will be underground, with a total of 10 stations.
• The third corridor will extend the existing Line-2 from Samaypur Badli to Narela DDA Sports Complex. This 12.89 km route will be elevated and have eight stations. The fourth corridor will expand Line-5 from Kirti Nagar to Palam, covering nearly 10 km.
• Another major route will run from Jor Bagh to Mithapur, spanning about 16.991 km.It will connect key areas, including Lodhi Colony, Jaitpur, and Mithapur, with multiple interchange points across different metro lines.
• The sixth corridor will link Shastri Park to Mayur Vihar Phase III, covering 13.197 km, with a large underground section. The final corridor will connect Keshavpuram to Rohini Sector 34 over 16.285 km, with 12 stations.
The Chief Minister has asked DMRC to prepare updated project reports for both priority and non-priority corridors.
