Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Friday inaugurated a new Electric Receiving Sub-Station (RSS) at Park Street in Central Delhi. The sub-station has been set up to ensure a steady and dependable power supply for important routes of the Delhi Metro, to improve the reliability of metro services.

Use of Advanced Technology
Speaking at the event, Ms. Gupta said the RSS has been built using advanced technology and was completed within just 18 months, which she described as a major achievement. She added that the new facility will play a key role in preventing power-related disruptions and will help metro trains run smoothly without interruptions.
Why has the Substation been built?
According to the Chief Minister's Office, the sub-station has been designed carefully to meet the growing power needs of the Delhi Metro network. With this new RSS in place, metro lines passing through central Delhi are expected to receive uninterrupted electricity, ensuring safe and efficient operations for passengers.
The Chief Minister also spoke about the government's larger vision for public transport in the city. She said the aim is to further expand the Delhi Metro network and strengthen it as the main mode of transport for residents. Ms. Gupta announced that work on new metro corridors will begin soon to improve connectivity across different parts of the city.
She assured that the government will continue to extend full financial and administrative support to ensure the timely completion of metro projects. According to her, improving metro infrastructure is essential for reducing traffic congestion and promoting cleaner and more sustainable travel options in Delhi.
Ms. Gupta added that the inauguration of the Electric Receiving Sub-Station reflects the government's strong commitment to building safe, modern, and environmentally friendly infrastructure. She said such projects are vital for supporting the growing metro network and ensuring that Delhi Metro remains a reliable, efficient, and passenger-friendly transport system for the future.
