A few passengers complained that security personnel at Attiguppe Metro Station in Bengaluru denied them entry even though they had arrived well before the last train. The passengers said they reached the station around 10:10 PM, nearly 50 minutes before the final train scheduled at 11 PM, but were stopped
at the entrance by guards who claimed that entry was allowed only till 10 PM.
Commuters' Opinions
According to the commuters, when they questioned the reason, the security staff said that the last entry time was displayed on the other side of the station, which they could not see. Another security guard, identified as Yogesh, told them that Metro services stop at 10 PM across all stations, contradicting the official schedule available to passengers.
At the time of the incident, the security personnel on duty, Prakash, Irbaz, Beerlinga, and Basavaraj, were reportedly managing entry at the gate. The commuters also claimed that the baggage scanner was switched off, further preventing them from entering the station. One of the denied passengers recorded the event on camera as proof of what had happened.
Passengers expressed disappointment, saying there was no clear communication or display about the actual last entry and train timings, causing confusion. They added that being turned away before the official time was unfair and inconvenient, especially for those depending on the Metro for late-night travel.
When the issue was brought to the attention of Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) officials, they did not respond to repeated calls or issue any clarification regarding the incident at Attiguppe station. Commuters have urged BMRCL to provide clear signage and consistent timing updates to prevent such problems in the future.
