Chitrakoot to Have Uttar Pradesh’s First Tabletop Airport

The Uttar Pradesh government has announced that Chitrakoot will soon have its tabletop airport through which the first tabletop airport will be inaugurated in the state. Managed by the Airport Authority of India (AAI), it will be the first functioning airport in Bundelkhand which has been constructed for 146 crores.

Under the UDAN scheme, a 20-seater aircraft will also be operational from here after getting the license from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

What is Tabletop Airport?

A tabletop airport is an airport having a runway that is positioned on the top of a plateau or hill with one or both ends adjacent to a steep height that drops into a deep valley.

Chitrakoot ropeway is already a famous tourist attraction since September 2019, and now people can travel to Chitrakoot both by air and by road. Lord Rama stayed in Chitrakoot for almost 11 years spending most of his exile time in Chitrakoot, which is situated in the Vindhya range and attracts thousands of tourists nationwide to witness its beauty and rich history.

Chitrakoot has various attractions including hot tourist spots like the Kamadgiri Parvat, Ganeshbagh, Bharatkup, Gupt Godavari, Sati Anusuiya Ashram, Dharkudi, Ramghat, Jankikund, Rajapur, Bharat Milap Temple and Chitrakoot waterfall, Sphatik Shila, Hanuman stream, which are the places all relayed to Lord Ram's visit along with his wife, goddess Sita and brother Lakshman.
