Several parts of Chennai will face a scheduled power cut on Thursday, November 6, 2025, as the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO) conducts important maintenance and system upgrade work. The power supply will be interrupted from 9 AM to 2 PM to improve electricity reliability and prevent future
power disruptions.
Why is the Power Cut Carried Out?
TANGEDCO officials explained that the shutdown is required for routine line maintenance, transformer replacement, and safety inspections to ensure a smooth and stable power supply to both residential and industrial areas. Power will be restored immediately once the maintenance work is completed.
List of Areas to be Affected
Thirumudivakkam: Sidco 6th & 8th Streets, Main Road, Velayuthum Nagar, Meenakshi Nagar, Sathish Nagar, Kalaimagal Nagar, Sai Baba Lane, and Ashramam Avenue.
Ambattur: Palaniappa, Pudur, AK Amman, Banu Nagar, Oragadam, Murugambedu, Pasumpon Nagar, Kallikuppam, Chandrasekarapuram, Venkatapuram, and Karukku.
Alandur: MKN Road, Asherkhana, Railway Station Road, GST Road, Velachery Road, Tiruvalluvar Main Road, Officer Colony, NGO Colony, and nearby residential colonies.
Advisory for Residents
Residents are advised to plan to reduce inconvenience during the power cut. It's recommended to charge mobile phones, laptops, and other essential devices beforehand, and keep emergency lights or battery fans ready. Avoid using high-power electrical appliances during the outage period.
Businesses and industries should check backup generators and disconnect sensitive machines to prevent any damage when power returns. Once the supply is restored, wait a few minutes before turning on large appliances. These precautionary steps will help residents and establishments stay safe and comfortable during the short maintenance outage.
