Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has flagged off a new special train between Bikaner and Ahmedabad, stating it will improve rail connectivity and help economic activity in the region. The train was launched from Bikaner in the presence of Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal. Vaishnaw said this service had been a long-pending demand and would make travel easier for people in Bikaner and nearby districts. It is also expected to support trade, tourism, and business links between parts of Rajasthan and Gujarat.

Bikaner-Ahmedabad Special Train
According to railway officials, the new service will benefit passengers travelling between important districts in the two states. In Gujarat, it is expected to help people from Ahmedabad, Mehsana, Patan, and Banaskantha. In Rajasthan, it will be useful for passengers from Jalore, Balotra, Jodhpur, Nagaur, and Bikaner. This wider connectivity is likely to improve the movement of both people and goods across the route.
Railway Developments in Rajasthan
During the event, Vaishnaw also spoke about the broader railway development push in Rajasthan. He said railway projects worth more than ₹76,800 crore are currently underway in the state. He added that redevelopment work is progressing at several stations, including Bikaner, Lalgarh, Nokha, Sadulpur, Churu, and Ratangarh, under the Amrit Station Scheme. These station projects are being designed to reflect local culture and improve passenger facilities.
The minister further said that work on new railway lines, doubling projects, and gauge conversion is continuing in Rajasthan, which will help introduce more train services in the future. He also mentioned the development of Gati Shakti Cargo Terminals to support industry and trade. Along with this, Vaishnaw referred to the proposed Bikaner-Chandigarh train and said railway officials have been asked to finalise the route so that service can begin as soon as possible. Overall, the new Bikaner-Ahmedabad special train is being seen as another step toward better regional rail connectivity and economic growth.
