Southern Railway has announced partial cancellation of some trains due to engineering work at the Tirupati railway yard, which involves converting Bridge No. 154 from a pipe structure into a stronger box-type structure, which requires a temporary traffic block. Due to this, changes have been made to the operation of

a few trains running between Bengaluru and Tirupati.
Bengaluru-Tirupati Tri-Weekly Superfast Train
Train number 22618 SMVT Bengaluru-Tirupati Tri-weekly Superfast Express will not go all the way to Tirupati on certain dates. Instead, it will stop its journey early at Chandragiri, and this change will be in effect on April 27, April 29, and May 2. Similarly, in the return direction, train number 22617 Tirupati-SMVT Bengaluru Tri-weekly Superfast Express will not start from Tirupati on some days. Instead, it will begin its journey from Chandragiri. This change will apply on April 28 and May 1.
Reason Behind the Changes
These temporary changes have been made to ensure that the bridge work can be completed safely and efficiently without risking train operations. Passengers travelling on these dates are advised to take note of the revised boarding and departure stations and plan their journey accordingly. Such infrastructure upgrades are important for improving railway safety and long-term service quality. Although the changes may cause some inconvenience in the short term, they will help in providing smoother and safer train operations in the future.
