CapitaLand and BMRCL Unveil Skywalk from Pattandur Agrahara Metro to ITBP Whitefield in Bengaluru

A new skywalk linking the Pattandur Agrahara Metro station to the International Tech Park Bengaluru (ITPB) in Whitefield is opening, and it is expected to help around 50,000 tech workers every day. This elevated walkway gives commuters a direct and safer route from the metro to the tech park and

nearby areas, avoiding the busy and often crowded service road that people had to use before.

Skywalk Connection

The skywalk not only connects the metro to ITPB but also leads to Park Square Mall, making it more convenient for employees who go there before or after work. Approximately 140 tech companies operate within ITPB, and the new path will make walking easier for the tens of thousands of staff who travel between the metro and their offices each day.

How was the Project Built?

This project was built through a public-private partnership between CapitaLand and the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL). CapitaLand covered the construction costs and paid the connectivity fees, while BMRCL handled the permissions and approvals for the design.

How Will the Skywalk Benefit Commuters?

Before the skywalk, employees had to cross a congested road filled with vehicles, which could be both slow and unsafe, especially during peak hours. With the dedicated pedestrian bridge, people can now walk without worrying about traffic, and the travel time is expected to drop by at least 10 minutes a day.

The skywalk also improves safety for those working night shifts, offering a well-lit and secure route to and from the metro. Many commuters have welcomed the new structure, saying it reduces stress and daily hazards, and makes their journey quicker and less tiring.
By creating a smooth, direct connection between public transport and major workplaces, the skywalk is likely to encourage more people to use the metro and reduce road traffic in the busy Whitefield IT corridor.
