Indian Railways is set to introduce the Bengaluru-Shimoga Express, marking Karnataka's 12th Vande Bharat train.

Bengaluru Central MP PC Mohan confirmed the news on X (formerly Twitter), stating: "Shivamogga-Bengaluru Vande Bharat soon." However, an official schedule or launch date has not been announced yet. Residents of Shivamogga eagerly await this much-anticipated high-speed rail service.
Shivamogga, located approximately 300 km from Bengaluru, gained improved access with a new airport launched in 2023. The upcoming Vande Bharat Express will offer a faster travel option, benefiting students, professionals, and business commuters seeking convenience.
Bengaluru's Expanding Rail Network
The addition of this train will further expand Bengaluru's growing rail network. The capital city of Karnataka is already connected to seven major cities via Vande Bharat services: Mysuru, Chennai, Ernakulam, Hyderabad, Dharwad, Coimbatore, and Belagavi.
In related developments, discussions are underway for the Bengaluru-Mangaluru route. Railway Minister V. Somanna mentioned that electrification work is progressing well with only 33 km remaining. This will benefit commuters from Tumakuru, Hassan, and coastal Mangaluru.
