Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited (BESCOM) has announced a planned power outage in parts of the Nagarabhavi division in Bengaluru on Thursday, January 2, 2026. According to the official notification, electricity supply will be suspended from 10 am to 5 pm on that day. The outage is expected to affect several residential
and commercial areas in the locality.
Why is the Power Cut Essential?
BESCOM stated that the temporary shutdown is necessary to carry out important maintenance and infrastructure improvement works. These works include system strengthening, safety upgrades, and repairs at substations and along distribution lines. Such activities are carried out periodically to ensure a stable and reliable power supply in the long term and to prevent unexpected power failures in the future.
Advisory for Residents
During the scheduled outage, residents and businesses in the Nagarabhavi division may face inconvenience due to the lack of electricity. List of Areas to be Affected
According to the official notice, the areas affected by the power cut include Nagarabhavi, Manjunatha Nagar, Kalidasa Layout, Shanthinagar, and Kottigepalya. In addition to these localities, water supply installations, pumping stations, and nearby residential and commercial areas will also experience disruption in power supply during the outage period.

BESCOM has requested the cooperation of the public while the maintenance work is carried out. The company has assured consumers that power supply will be restored as soon as the scheduled work is completed.
