a low-pressure system over the Arabian Sea are responsible for the change in weather. These systems are expected to bring heavy rainfall to Coastal Karnataka, North Interior Karnataka, and South Interior Karnataka.

Bengaluru Rain Alert

Heavy rain is expected on May 7 and 8 in several parts of the state. On May 7, districts such as Dharwad, Haveri, and Gadag in North Interior Karnataka, along with Chikkamagaluru, Mysuru, and Kodagu in South Interior Karnataka, are likely to receive heavy showers. On May 8, districts in the Malenadu region, including Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, and Kodagu, may also experience intense rainfall.

Thunderstorms & Strong Winds in Bengaluru

The IMD has also warned of thunderstorms and strong winds. North Interior Karnataka may experience winds of 40-50 kmph from May 7 to 11. Districts like Haveri, Koppal, Raichur, and Bagalkote may see winds of 30-40 kmph. Coastal districts such as Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Uttara Kannada are expected to witness stormy weather till May 8.

Reason behind the Weather Change

The weather change is mainly due to a surface cyclonic circulation that has formed near the Kerala coast over the southeast Arabian Sea and the Lakshadweep region. This weather system extends up to 1.5 km above sea level. The India Meteorological Department said that it will affect wind patterns across interior Karnataka and increase rainfall activity in many districts.

Advisory for Residents

Bengaluru is likely to remain cloudy with moderate rain and thunderstorms by evening or night. Temperatures are expected to stay around 33°C during the day and 23°C at night. Weather experts said rain may keep temperatures stable over the coming days. Farmers and residents have been advised to remain careful during thunderstorms.
