After several days of waiting, Bengaluru finally experienced late Sunday night and early Monday morning, giving much-needed relief to residents and marking the start of a rainy week in South Interior Karnataka. The first showers began around 11 pm, with steady rain in KR Puram and nearby eastern areas. Places

like Ramamurthy Nagar and Marathahalli initially experienced drizzles, but the rain became heavier as the night went on.
Bengaluru Rains
By around 5:30 am, many parts of the city were receiving moderate to heavy rainfall. TC Palya saw intense showers with thunder, lasting about 30-35 minutes in multiple spells. Heavy rain was also reported in Manyata Tech Park and Seegehalli, showing strong weather activity in the eastern and northeastern parts of the city. Central and northern areas such as Mathikere, Rajajinagar, and Ulsoor also experienced steady rain and cloudy skies, while Banaswadi had continuous showers. However, in some areas, Anekal remained dry, which is common during pre-monsoon rains in Bengaluru. Residents felt the rain was "worth the wait," especially after the recent hot and humid weather, as it helped lower temperatures and made the morning more pleasant.
Bengaluru Rain Alert
Weather forecasts suggest this is just the beginning of monsoons. South Interior Karnataka and nearby ghat regions are expected to receive regular rainfall over the coming week, with chances of thunderstorms and evening showers in Bengaluru. According to IMD, Bengaluru will have partly cloudy skies for the next five days, with light rain early on and increasing rainfall and strong winds from May 5 onward. Temperatures will stay warm during the day but cooler at night.
Advisory for Residents
People are advised to be prepared for waterlogging in low-lying areas, traffic delays, and possible power cuts. Despite this, the rain will bring relief from the heat and help improve water levels.
