The PSU BEML, based in Bengaluru, has sent more metro coaches for the Namma Metro's Pink Line project. Late on Monday night, three coaches of the second train were sent from BEML and reached the Kothanur depot in southern Bengaluru on Tuesday. Workers began unloading them, and these will be

checked and inspected soon. Later on Tuesday night, three more coaches are expected to arrive, completing the full six-coach train set.
Prototype Train for the Pink Line
Earlier, on December 11, 2025, BEML had completed and rolled out the prototype train for the Pink Line. That prototype train is currently running on the main metro tracks for tests. However, before its use, it must obtain legal safety clearances, which may take around 4 more months.
Completion of Trainsets
BEML plans to supply six complete trainsets for this metro line by May 2026. This timing is important because the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) hopes to open the elevated section of the Pink Line around that month. When this part between Kalena Agrahara and Tavarekere starts running, Bengaluru's metro network will exceed 100 kilometres in total length, making it one of the longest in India.
Work on the Pink Line
Work on the Pink Line is happening in two main parts. The elevated section is expected to open first in 2026, while the long underground section, almost 15 kilometres and Bengaluru's longest tunnel, is scheduled to be finished and ready by December 2026. Construction and track work are already in advanced stages. After building the tunnels and stations, there will need to be four to six months of testing before trains can run for passengers.
