of the project, which is considered crucial for Bengaluru's growing transportation needs.

Bengaluru Metro Phase 3

Phase 3 of Namma Metro will cover around 44.65 kilometres and consist of two new corridors. One corridor will connect JP Nagar 4th Phase to Kempapura through the Outer Ring Road, while the second will run from Hosahalli to Kadabagere along Magadi Road. Once completed, the expansion will significantly increase the reach of Bengaluru's Metro network and improve access to several key areas of the city.

Important Features of Namma Metro Phase II

One of the most notable features of the project is the double-decker structure. In this design, a metro viaduct will be built above a road flyover, allowing both road traffic and metro trains to use the same corridor. This space-saving approach is expected to ease traffic congestion while improving public transport facilities. The project includes more than 37 kilometres of double-decker sections, making it one of the largest such developments in the city.

The project is estimated to cost over ₹25,000 crore. Funding support is expected from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), while the Karnataka government will bear the cost of the road flyover component. Construction work is planned in multiple phases, and officials aim to complete the project by 2031.

New Phase Inclusions

The new phase will also include seven interchange stations, allowing passengers to switch easily between different metro lines. Once operational, Phase 3 is expected to improve daily commuting, reduce travel time, and support Bengaluru's long-term urban growth. The project is seen as a key step towards building a more efficient and integrated public transport system for the city.
