Pune Metro Ganeshotsav Special: Trains to Run Until 2 AM and 41-Hour Non-Stop Service

Pune Metro’s festival‑week momentum continued today, after a 21.4 percent jump on Monday. The network carried 2,62,671 passengers on September 14, the first Ganeshotsav day. Crowds were thickest around Mandai, Deccan, and Civil Court stations, officials indicated. Evening flows through the central peths stayed heavy as traffic restrictions remained in force.

From September 17 to 24, trains run until 2 am on both corridors. Peak frequency tightens to five minutes, with about ten minutes otherwise. Metro said the plan aims for comfortable, safe travel for devotees during Ganeshotsav. Regular 6 am to 11 pm timings apply until Wednesday, September 16.

Officials expect the steepest surges over the final five festive days. Trains will run every five minutes in peaks, easing queue build‑ups on platforms. Plan earlier arrivals for darshan and defer returns into the late evening when possible. Crowding tends to spill towards Mandai, Kasba Peth, Swargate and Civil Court.

Sep 25–26 non‑stop 41‑hour Pune Metro operations

Start End Duration Notes
Sep 25, 6:00 am Sep 26, 11:00 pm 41 hours Five‑minute peaks; extra counters and online ticketing; crowd marshals

Services start 6 am on Friday, September 25, and continue until 11 pm on Saturday. Five‑minute peaks, extra counters, and crowd marshals will manage the immersion‑day surge. Online ticketing will be promoted to ease payments at underground stations.

Mandai station will run one‑way gates to speed flows: enter via Gate 3, exit via Gate 2. Riders should use Kasba Peth, Deccan Gymkhana or PMC to approach peth mandals, and Mandai for returns. Citywide prohibitory orders and diversions apply through September 28; plan extra walking time. PMPML will operate late‑night links from major metro stations for last‑mile returns.

Buy digital tickets in advance, travel light, and follow on‑ground instructions. Change lines quickly at Civil Court interchange when hopping mandals across corridors. Check police orders and feeder buses before late‑night returns from central peths. Use nearby stations for entry and stagger returns after peak waves subside.
