The Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation will operate 150 special buses every day between Tamil Nadu and Tirupati from September 17 to 30 to help devotees travelling for the annual Brahmotsavam festival at Tirumala.

The special services will connect Tirupati with Chennai, Tiruchy, Thanjavur, Salem, Coimbatore, Madurai, Karaikudi, Kumbakonam, Nagapattinam, Sengottai, Puducherry, Kallakurichi, Villupuram, Vellore, Tirupattur, Tiruvannamalai, Kancheepuram, Tambaram, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Harur and Hosur. Booking will be available for buses operating from Tiruchy, Thanjavur, Salem, Coimbatore, Madurai, Karaikudi, Kumbakonam, Nagapattinam, Sengottai and Puducherry. Devotees can book their tickets through the TNSTC website and the official TNSTC app.
Meanwhile, 285 special buses have also been planned for the Meenakshi Amman temple consecration in Madurai.
Special Arrangements Made by the State Transport
The State Transport Department also made arrangements to manage passenger return after the Vinayaka Chaturthi holiday. By Tuesday morning, 2,716 buses had reached the city, while another 623 buses were kept ready for deployment depending on passenger demand. Transport Minister A Vijay Thamizhan Parthiban inspected the arrangements at Kilambakkam bus terminus and Koyambedu bus stand early Tuesday. He instructed officials to deploy additional buses immediately wherever required and monitor crowding and connecting services at the terminals.
For Monday, 3,339 buses were planned, including 1,099 regular buses and 2,240 special buses. For Tuesday, the department planned 1,099 regular buses and 1,325 special services.
The Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) also operated around 397 buses from Kilambakkam to different parts of Chennai from early morning to help returning passengers reach their destinations along with additional buses.
Between September 11 and 13, State transport corporations operated 6,212 buses from Kilambakkam for passengers travelling out of Chennai for the holiday. These included 3,297 regular and 2,915 special buses, carrying around 2.48 lakh passengers.
