The much-awaited Pink Line of the Namma Metro is moving closer to reality, with safety trials expected to begin soon. Officials from Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) have said that trials by the Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO) may start before the end of this month. However, a

few formal procedures still need to be completed. Once the trials begin, the inspection process is likely to take at least two weeks.
Why are the Trials Important?
RDSO trials are an important step before any metro line opens to the public in India. These tests check whether the trains, tracks, and other systems are safe and meet required performance standards. The metro line will be approved for passenger services after the success of trials.
Bengaluru Pink Line Metro Corridor
The Pink Line corridor is around 21 km long. Out of this, about 13 km will run underground between Dairy Circle and Nagawara, making it one of the longest underground sections in the city, and the remaining stretch is elevated, connecting Kalena Agrahara to Tavarekere. The elevated section is expected to open first, with a target of mid-2026. However, commuters have to wait a bit longer for the entire corridor to become operational, as full completion is planned by the end of December 2026.
Delivery of Four Trainsets
Regarding train availability, four trainsets have already been delivered to BMRCL by Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML). Initially, around four to five trainsets are likely to be used for operations on the elevated section of the Pink Line.
However, the project is progressing steadily, and the upcoming trials mark a key milestone toward starting metro services on this important route.
