Bengaluru and Tumakuru residents will face planned power cuts over the next few days as BESCOM carries out maintenance work, feeder repairs, and supports railway overbridge construction. These power outages are scheduled as safety measures and will mostly happen during daytime hours, between 10 am and 5 pm, on selected dates.

Why is the Shutdown Essential?
According to BESCOM, the shutdowns are necessary in areas where electrical and infrastructure work is in progress. The electricity supply company has assured consumers that the interruptions will be temporary and meant to improve the safety and reliability of power supply. Residents and businesses have been asked to plan their daily activities in advance to avoid inconvenience.
Bengaluru Power Cut on January 8
In Bengaluru, a power outage is planned on January 8 from 10 am to 5 pm due to maintenance work by KPTCL on important transmission lines.
The areas likely to be affected include IT and industrial zones such as EPIP Layout and nearby IT parks and commercial areas. Several suburban and industrial locations including Attibele, Anekal, Chandapura, Manchanahalli, Mayasandra, Kombilipura, and Harohalli will also face the shutdown. Some residential areas, including VBHC Apartments and nearby localities, will be impacted.
BESCOM has advised people in these areas to charge mobile phones and laptops in advance, arrange backup lighting, and store enough water for daily use.
Tumakuru Power Cut Schedule
Tumakuru will see multiple power cuts over the coming days for railway overbridge construction and feeder maintenance. On January 7, areas under City Division-2 will face outages from 10 am to 5 pm.
