The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has approved a major infrastructure project to improve Bihar's road connectivity. A six-lane Greenfield corridor connecting Ramnagar and Kachchi Dargah has been sanctioned at a cost of ₹1,082.85 crore. Announced by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on X, this project is part of the Amas-Darbhanga Highway and is expected to significantly enhance transportation in the state while boosting its economy.

A Key Segment of the Amas-Darbhanga Highway
The newly approved corridor is not just a local project but an integral part of the Amas-Darbhanga Highway. It will link National Highway-19 and National Highway-57, creating a seamless connection between two economic corridors. This development is expected to make travel more efficient across the eastern region of India, improving links between Bihar and neighboring states like West Bengal, Jharkhand, and the northeastern states.
Union Minister Gadkari highlighted the importance of the project, stating, "This will help improve the efficiency of long-route traffic in the eastern part of the country." The project will also include the widening of the existing National Highway-31, further enhancing connectivity for the region.
Economic Benefits and Regional Development
The construction of this corridor is set to play a vital role in Bihar's economic growth. By providing a faster and smoother transportation route, it will benefit industries, boost trade, and facilitate the movement of goods. The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) noted that the project will make daily travel more convenient for residents along its route and better connect rural areas of Bihar with the rest of the country.
The project is also expected to encourage tourism and attract investments, contributing to the overall development of the state.
Additional Infrastructure in Kishanganj
In addition to the Greenfield corridor, the Ministry has also approved another project in Bihar to connect NH-27 with NH-327E in Kishanganj district. This project involves constructing a 24.84-kilometer spur between Kishanganj and Bahadurganj at a cost of ₹1,117 crore. This initiative will further enhance road connectivity in Bihar and contribute to the state's infrastructure growth.
The approval of these projects marks a significant milestone in Bihar's development. The six-lane Greenfield corridor and the Kishanganj spur are not just about better roads-they represent a push toward economic prosperity and improved connectivity for millions of people. As work begins on these projects, they promise to transform Bihar into a more connected and economically vibrant state.
