The Yogi Adityanath government has also continued its annual Raksha Bandhan scheme under which women can travel free of cost on all types of UPSRTC buses and city buses. The free travel service will start at 6 am on August 27 and continue until midnight on August 29. Women passengers will be given zero-fare tickets during this period.

Free Women Trips on Major Routes

Ravindra Kumar, regional manager of UPSRTC's Prayagraj region, said officials have been instructed to remain alert and ensure smooth travel arrangements. The additional bus services have been planned because passenger numbers are expected to increase during the festival.

The 148 extra trips will operate on seven major routes. Prayagraj-Lucknow will get 34 additional trips, while Prayagraj-Gorakhpur will have 26. Prayagraj-Kanpur and Prayagraj-Varanasi will each receive 24 extra trips. Another 20 additional services will run between Prayagraj and Ayodhya. Prayagraj-Mirzapur and Prayagraj-Banda will each get 10 additional trips.

Authorities have also been asked to focus on passenger comfort at bus stations. Cleanliness will be maintained at buses and terminals, while drinking water, proper lighting and working fans will be provided in waiting areas.

Special Incentives to Employees

UPSRTC has announced special incentives to encourage its employees to work efficiently during the busy festival period. Drivers and conductors who complete 1,800 km of bus operations within six days, while meeting the required conditions, will receive ₹1,200. Contractual drivers and conductors will get an additional 55 paise per kilometre for travel beyond 1,800 km.

Technical staff at depots and regional workshops who maintain full attendance during the six days will receive a ₹500 incentive. Drivers and conductors must also maintain a load factor above 64% to qualify. Moreover, ₹90,000 has been approved to reward employees and supervisors for managing designated bus stations efficiently during the Raksha Bandhan rush.
