Chamaraja MLA K. Harish Gowda has said that steps will be taken to adjust KSRTC bus timings to the schedule of Maharani Women's Commerce and Management College, helping students from rural areas who face difficulties reaching the college. Mr. Gowda announced this while inaugurating a special awareness and interaction programme on the State government's Yuvanidhi and Shakti schemes at the college on Monday, organised by the Guarantee Schemes Implementation Committee.

He said students should understand the benefits offered under the government's guarantee schemes and use them properly. Parents also raised concerns about a shortage of classes and lecturers for the BCA course. Responding to the issue, Mr. Gowda said he would raise the matter during the ongoing Assembly session and discuss it with the Higher Education Minister. He said efforts would be made to ensure that lecturers are appointed soon.
Former Krishnaraja MLA M.K. Somashekar said guarantee scheme implementation committees had been formed at the constituency, district and State levels to ensure that eligible people receive the benefits of government schemes.
He encouraged unemployed diploma and degree holders to register for the Yuvanidhi scheme and use the financial assistance to prepare for competitive examinations. He also advised students to spend more time on their education rather than using mobile phones excessively. Along with academic qualifications, students should develop English communication and computer skills to improve their chances of finding jobs.
Mr. Somashekar highlighted schemes such as Shakti, which provides free bus travel for women, and Gruha Lakshmi, which supports women's empowerment.
District Skill Development Officer Muralidhar said Yuvanidhi Plus had been introduced to expand the benefits of the Yuvanidhi scheme. Under Yuvanidhi, unemployed graduates receive ₹3,000 per month, while unemployed diploma holders receive ₹1,500.
He said degrees alone are not always enough in today's competitive job market. Candidates with specialised skills often receive better job opportunities and salaries. The Karnataka Skill Development Corporation and the Department of Employment and Training offer several job-oriented courses free of cost. Training programmes that may cost ₹40,000 to ₹1 lakh at private institutions are available without fees through these government initiatives.
College principal Renuka Bai V., MDCC Bank president R. Murthy and others attended the programme.
