Dalma Mountain Range is at an altitude of 3000 ft. Lurking in the thick cover of its jungle are elephants, barking deer, sloth beer, porcupines, leopard and tigers. The main tree species being Terminalias, Jamun and many more to name.
The sanctuary is very much favoured by the elephants due to availability of water even during summer. On the mountain top are the guesthouse of Tata Steel and Forest Department. There is also a temple of the Hindu deity Shiva on the mountain top where devotees throng to it during Shivaratri.
