Gau Ghat is one of the most revered places in Haridwar. The ghat got this name because people come here to wash their sins of slaughtering cows. This is also a place where people pray for the peace of departed souls. The ashes of some of the prominent people, such as Jawaharlal Nehru, Mahatma Gandhi and Indira Gandhi were scattered into this ghat.
