  • 01Submarine Museum

    The Submarine Museum located on the Ramakrishna Beach is only one of its kinds in the Asian continent and hence is a popular tourist site. The museum is also known by the name Smritika. The museum was converted to a Submarine Museum in 2001 from the earlier INS Kursura, a Russian-built submarine.

    The fund to bring the Submarine to the shores was given by India’s Premier Defence Lab, ONGC, Visakhapatnam Port and National Ship Design and Research Centre. In 2002, it was inaugurated by the former chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, Nara Chandrababu Naidu.

  • 02Kailasagiri Hills

    Kailasagiri Hill, also called Kailasagiri park, is a beautiful site that offers a mesmerizing view to the tourists. It is surrounded by the two beautiful beaches Ramakrishna and Rishikonda on its left side and the hillock on its right side. The hill derives its name from Kailasa, the abode of Lord Shiva and Parvati. Two huge sculptures of the deities can be found in the hills.

    The ropeway trolley can be used to reach atop the hillock. One can enjoy a picturesque view of the city down, especially in the evening. There is also a road train for children and a huge flora clock. The site is fast developing into a picnic spot.

  • 03Kambalakonda Wildlife Sanctuary

    Kambalakonda is a wildlife sanctuary, which is controlled by the Andhra Pradesh Forest Department since 1970. The name of the Sanctuary is derived from the Kambalakonda Mountain. The sanctuary covers an area of 71 sq km of evergreen forest. Located only 3 kilometers away from Visakhapatnam, this Eco park is one of the best places to visit in Vizag, Andhra Pradesh.

    Various species of flora and fauna is preserved in this sanctuary in their natural habitat. There are endangered Indian leopards and other animals such as Russell’s viper, Indian cobra, Indian jackal, the Indian muntjac and Asian paradise flycatcher which are found here.

  • 04Ramakrishna Beach or R K Beach

    Ramakrishna Beach, located on the East Coast is a popular beach of the Visakhapatnam city. The beach is located on the coast of Bay of Bengal and is known for its sunrise and crimson sunset. This mesmerizing 3 km stretch, dotted with food and snacks, provides an amazing experience.

    Ramakrishna Beach and its twin beach, Lawson’s Bay Beach offers a splendid scenic beauty in terms of its natural surroundings.

    The Ramakrishna beach also has the largest stretch of seafront. Various other tourist sites like the Kali temple, Vadu Park, Submarine Museum, Matsyadarshini and War Memorial dedicated to the soldiers of the Indo-Pak war of 1971 are close to the beach.

    War Memorial

    The War Memorial of Vizag, also popularly known as the Victory at Sea, is located at a distance of 19 km from the center of the city. It is close to Ramakrishna Beach and has been built to pay to regard the memory of the soldiers and their victory during the Indo-Pak war of 1971.

    The Memorial had been established by the Naval Command in 1996, and it houses several missiles and bombs and a fighter plane and tank. The memorial is surrounded by a concrete wall, and within it there is a beautiful tower which has been made on the lines of the Amar Jawan Jyoti of India Gate.

    Ross Hill is also known by the name Kanyamarykonda and is the highest among all the peaks of Eastern Ghat.
