Sri Lanka emerged as a beacon for Indian tourists, declaring a free visa for Indians from December 2023 to March 2024. This strategic move aimed at not only boosting tourism but also fostering stronger ties between the two nations, united by historical and cultural bonds rooted in Buddhism and Hinduism.
Malaysia: A Year of Visa-Free Opportunities
Malaysia opened its doors wider, unveiling temporary visa-free travel for Indians from December 2023 to December 2024. This initiative aligned with Malaysia's Visit Malaysia 2024 campaign, showcasing its commitment to fortify ties with India, a key market for both tourism and trade.
Japan: Streamlining the Visa Process
In July 2023, Japan introduced a single-entry e-Visa for Indian passport-holders residing in various countries. The move aimed at simplifying the visa application process, making it more convenient for Indian travelers, and fostering tourism and business connections between the nations.
Russia: E-Visa for Enhanced Relations
Russia launched a single-entry e-Visa for 16 days from August 2023, extending a warm welcome to citizens of 55 countries, including India. This initiative aimed to strengthen ties with India, a strategic partner and member of BRICS, promoting ease of travel and cooperation.
Thailand: A Six-Month Visa-Free Window
On November 10, 2023, Thailand became a visa-free destination for Indian citizens for tourism purposes, allowing a stay of up to 30 days. This exciting opportunity, however, comes with a time constraint, valid until May 10, 2024.
Indonesia: Proposing Visa-Free Entry
While Indonesia has yet to become visa-free for Indian citizens, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy has proposed issuing free entry visas to travelers from 20 countries, including India. This forward-looking initiative aims to boost tourism and attract quality visitors.
Myanmar: Visas on Arrival for Indian Tourists

Serbia: Ceasing Visa-Free Entry
