The Rich History of Tiji Festival

This auspicious Tiji Festival has been celebrated for the last 300 years and still is beautifully maintained by indigenous people as the symbol of Good over Evil as a deity named Dorjo Jono fought against his father, MA TAM TU TA to guard the kingdom of Mustang against destruction. His father was a devil who brought fear to the people by bringing scarcity of water in such a deserted region. Dorjo Jono hence bashed his demon father and took him away from Mustang. Worshiping this legend, who saved the land from evil, Tiji is celebrated to bring peace and wealth to the region.
