Mangalore, the city of beaches and temples with a great history; who would not desire to take a tour around this beautiful city, right? Do you want to get tanned? Hit the beaches in summer.

Are you a romantic person? Still, hit the beach, but in winters. With a wide range of water sports and a relaxing environment, Mangalore is a major destination to a lot of travellers out there.

And, that's why we're listing some of the major places and tourist attractions that invite us for a visit during our stay in this beautiful city.

Mangala Devi Temple:
Located at a distance of approximately 4 km from the main bus stand of Mangalore, the shrine of Goddess Mangala Devi is a major tourist attraction. Legends say that the temple was built by Parashurama and it dates back to 9th century. It's great to pay a visit to temples that are great historical heritages.

Malpe Beach:
A lovely beach with a pleasant scenic view located at a distance of 6-7 km from Udupi is a major tourist attraction near Mangalore. The mesmerising St. Mary's island and the temples of Lord Balarama and Ananteshwara attract everyone. The local shacks inviting tourists to serve the local delicacies in their local languages, Tulu and Konkani, is a music to the ears. If you are a sea-food lover, this is a place to hang out for sure.

St. Mary's Island:
Located off-coast Malpe amidst the Arabian sea, this place certainly has the charm to enthrall the soul of every traveller visiting here. With an amazing 40-50 minutes ferry ride in the Arabian sea is a must-do, if you are planning to visit Mangalore. Visiting this place during weekdays is better than weekends; and if you are looking out for some peaceful vacation, then this is the place to be at.

Bekal Fort:
A unique fort that signifies the importance of defense strategy, which again comes with a history. One should not miss the view of the stunning sea and the beautiful sunset; it leaves the mind and soul of a traveller in trance, as the tides from the sea hit the rocks creating a lovely sound wave. It is a photographer's promise land. Bekal fort is located in Kasargod and is a 2-hour journey from Mangalore.

Pabbas Ice Cream Parlor:
Are you an ice cream lover? Do not forget to visit the famous Pabbas ice cream parlour in Mangalore, which is a famous hangout. You may need to have a lot of patience to wait in the long queue before you get to relish the lovely flavour of ice creams they serve. Tiramisu is my favourite one; do visit this place to know what your favourite flavor is :)
