The thought of a trip makes some people insomniacs out of excitement. Travelling can't always be fun and jolly; even the smallest of things might disrupt your idea of fun during trips. Travel insomnia or lack of sleep during travel is something many experience. A good trip can become a bad one if you are a travel insomniac.
Do you sit like an owl in night journeys while others are busy snoring in their sleep? Are you easily awakened by a faint noise in a hotel room?

If you're sensitive about sleep then these are bound to happen. Travel insomnia happens due to jet-lags, unsuitable hotel rooms, bus or train journeys. It is necessary to get over it while you are on a trip. Getting a good sleep will make you less irritable and fresh while you travel.
These tips might help you to get over travel insomnia:
Don't try too hard when you are not sleepy
Don't try hard when you are not feeling sleepy. Occupy yourself with a gadget or sit next to a window till you feel like sleeping. Using phones or laptops strains the eyes and it will make you dizzy after some time. The key is to wait till you feel dizzy.
Watch your caffeine intake
When you travel, avoid drinking coffee or tea which reduces sleep. Even though alcohol is said to induce sleep, you may not get sound sleep. So, reduce your alcohol intake during travel.
Use eye masks and earplugs
Eye masks can work wonders as it shuts the light and creates a dark environment. Along with that music can help lull you to sleep.
Arrange your hotel room to your convenience
Close the windows and curtains in your hotel room. Make sure you take your own pillow and blanket if you are sensitive about it. Try getting a corner room away from the pub or party hall inside your hotel. Shut away any noise which can reach you.
Relax and close your eyes
Be it in a bus or anywhere, close your eyes for some time. Even if you can't sleep, closed eyes can relax you for a while.
