Saavira Kambada Basadi (Thousand Pillar Temple) is one such temple which depicts the glorious past of Jain rulers in Moodabidri, Karnataka.

Saavira Kambada Basadi is also called as Tribuvana Tilaka Chudamani. It is dedicated to Chandranatha Swamy, the 8th Thirthankara. Thousand Pillar Temple is a most prominent Jain temple in Moodabidri.
Most architectures in Moodabidri is a product of several Jain dynasties. In the year 1430, Saavira Kambada Basadi was built by a local chieftain, Devaraya Wodeyar.

This region was once full of bamboo forests and hence the name Moodabidri. Moodu meaning 'East', and bidiri or bidiru meaning 'Bamboo'.

Saavira kamba temple is popular for its artistic pillars. Every pillar narrates a story and each has its own beauty.
A three-storeyed structure carved in granite with a tall pillar known as Manasthamba is what you see as you enter the temple. Just a glimpse around and you will surely fall in love with several exotic carvings you get to see.

The inner sanctum has 2.5 metres tall statue of Chandranatha Swami which will leave you awestruck by its elegance.
Massive pillars, different mantapas and intricately carved structures make your time memorable. It is definitely one of the best Jain temples in Karnataka.
