Mumbai's Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) undertaking will operate 136 additional buses on Friday, August 28, to manage the expected increase in passenger traffic during Raksha Bandhan celebrations. The special services are being introduced to help people travel across the city and neighbouring areas to meet their family members during the festival.

Mumbai's Special Raksha Bandhan Buses
The additional bus services will begin at 10:30 am and will be operated from different BEST depots in Mumbai and nearby areas, aiming to make travel easier for passengers as the festival is expected to bring a higher number of commuters onto public transport. According to officials, the special buses will connect important railway stations, bus terminals and residential areas. This will help passengers travelling between different parts of Mumbai as well as nearby locations.
The additional services will cover several important routes and areas. These include Mahul, Sion, Chembur, Colaba, Sewree, Vashi, Airoli, Bhayandar, Borivali, Mulund, Thane, Nerul and Belapur in Navi Mumbai.
The decision is taken to help people, as they are expected to travel to meet their brothers, sisters and other family members for Raksha Bandhan. With the possibility of increased crowds at transport hubs and on regular bus routes, the additional services are expected to provide more travel options.
Advisory for Passengers
BEST has made arrangements to ensure that commuters can reach their destinations more conveniently during the festive rush. Passengers using these services are advised to check their routes and timings before travelling, as bus operations may vary depending on traffic and demand.
