Agumbe also called as the Cherrapunji of the South due to the amount of rainfall which the village receives in this hamlet only after Cherapunji, is located in Shimoga district of Karnataka. The village is located at a distance of about 370 km from Bengaluru. Mangalore is the nearest airport which is located at a distance of 100 km and Udupi, which is located at a distance of about 54 km from Agumbe.
The small village is also related to the famous novel Malgudi Days, as few episodes of RK Narayan's novel was shot here. Agumbe is an ideal place nature lovers and also a perfect place for trekkers. The beautiful paradise is surrounded by thick rain forests, splendid waterfalls and sharp ghats. The place is also a haven for various flora and fauna.
