From 8:00 am on September 3 to 9:00 am on September 5, Mathura imposes entry curbs. Access towards Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi is blocked from Govardhan, Mandi and Bhuteshwar junctions, plus Masani, Deeg Gate, Gokarn, State Bank, Krishnapuri and the new bus stand. Outside vehicles face no entry from evening, September 2, until late night, September 5.
Mathura–Vrindavan Janmashtami traffic curbs: routes and detours
For Delhi–Noida travellers, prefer the Yamuna Expressway. Use Chhatikara only if open; otherwise continue to Kosi Kalan and loop back as signed. Heavy vehicles will be stopped at Chhatikara, Rukmini Vihar, Panigaon, Vrindavan Cut and Sau‑Shaiya. From Agra side, follow National Highway 19 detours via Dhauli Pyau or Raya cut, as police direct.
Mathura–Vrindavan Janmashtami traffic curbs: parking and darshan planning
Park at Rukmini Vihar multilevel and Maa Vaishno Dham hubs from the Chhatikara approach. Larger buses queue there; e‑rickshaws and autos run shuttle drops to ISKCON, Prem Mandir and old Vrindavan, except short VIP holds. The plan readies 129 barriers, 24 parking sites and 16 watch towers, with 3,500–4,000 police deployed across peak hours.
Expect the tightest darshan between midnight janmotsav and Mangla Aarti, about 1:45–2:00 am, often until dawn. Families and seniors may target 6:00–9:00 am on September 5, or late-afternoon lulls.
