Kruger National Park: Largest Game Reserve In South Africa

One of the biggest "big five" wildlife reserves in the world is South Africa's, Kruger National Park. Kruger is the nation's premier national park and is home to more than 500 bird species, 100 reptiles, close to 150 mammals, numerous ancient sites, and an astounding variety of trees and flowers. Adventurers have several options for exploring the park, including a hot-air balloon ride, a bush walk, and a 4x4.

The elephant, lion, rhinoceros, leopard, and Cape buffalo are known as the "Big 5" animals. All of these amazing species are likely to be visible to Kruger National Park visitors. The vegetation here ranges from open veld to deep bush with mopane, acacia, marula, and baobab trees. Elephants, lions, leopards, cheetahs, buffalo, rhinoceroses, zebras, wildebeests, impalas, and a wide variety of birds are among the additional fauna.

The approximately 5 million-acre Kruger National Park, located about 260 miles northeast of Johannesburg, has some of the best access to wild creatures in Africa. West of the Lebombo Mountains, in the provinces of Limpopo and Mpumalanga, it is located on the Mozambique border. Paul Kruger, a former president of the South African Republic (the Transvaal) and the father of the Afrikaner country, was honored with a park's naming in 1926. The park was initially established in part in 1898. Skukuza is home to the park's administrative offices.

The park is around 200 miles (320 km) long and 25 to 50 miles (40 to 80 km) wide, covering an area of 7,523 square miles (19,485 square km). There are almost 5,000 miles of paved and gravel roads that travel through the region's primarily flat terrain and modest ranges of hills.

There are ten entrances to the Kruger National Park: the Crocodile Bridge, Malelane, Numbi, Phabeni, Paul Kruger, Orpen, Phalaborwa, Punda Maria, Pafuri, and Giriyondo. When visiting Kruger National Park, there are numerous must-see places and experiences that you should undoubtedly take in. Read on.
