Hajo is an religious destination of Assam. It sees a confluence of the three most important religions of the world - Hinduism, Buddhism and Islam,which is an important aspect of Hajo tourism. There are several temples dedicated to Hindu gods and goddess, Lord Buddha and shrines of important Muslim saints here.
One of the most notable temples of Hajo is the Hayagriva Madhava Temple. This temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The Muslims visit Hajo to pay respect at the Powa Mecca. Hayagriva Madhava Temple

The Hayagriva Madhava Temple is the most popular and most visited temple not only in Hajo but also of the region. This temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, and is believed that the idol of the Hayagriva Madhava Temple resembles the idol of Lord Jagannath in Puri. Rumour has it that it is on this site Lord Buddha attained Nirvana. Thus, the Hayagriva Madhava Temple sees many Buddhists along with Hindus visiting the temple every year.
Powa Mecca

Powa Mecca is said to have the sanctity one finds in Mecca. It is an important religious destination for the Muslims in the north-eastern region, the mosque is said to be built by using the soil which was brought from Mecca. Powa, in the local language means one-fourth and thus the name Powa Mecca signifies that the mosque has one-fourth of the sanctity of Mecca, the holiest city for the Muslims. The Powa Mecca also attracts tourists who come to check out this great architecture.
Dhoparguri Satra
The Dhoparguri Satra was constructed by Saint Madhavdeva, the greatest disciple of Srimanta Sankardeva. Srimanta Sankardeva is said to have brought Vaishnavism to Assam and is regarded as the face of Vaishnavism in Assamese culture. Every year large number of devotees from all over Assam and also other parts of the country visit the Dhoparguri Satra to pay their respects. This is the only religious attraction in Hajo which follows Vaishnavism as taught by Srimanta Sankardeva.
Kedareswar Temple is located high up on the hills of Madanachala, Hajo. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is regarded as one of the oldest temples in India. At the foot of the Kedareswar Temple lies a Ganesh temple. There is a huge Shivalinga in the Kedareswar Temple which is made of stone. This Shivalinga is popularly known as the Svayambhu Linga and this form of Lord Shiva is known by Ardhanariswara. The notable thing about this Shivalinga is that it is always covered by a metal bowl.
Joy Durga Temple is a famous temple of Hajo dedicated to Goddess Durga. The temple houses a beautiful stone image of Goddess Durga at the temple altar. Not only is the temple alter awe-inspiring, but everything around the temple is equally beautiful. Devotees spend hours sitting on the temple stairs and basking in the glory of nature and enjoying the view.
One of the prime attractions of Hajo is the Ganesh Temple. This temple is also known as Deva Bhavana and according to legends, it is believed that the place was once a meeting place of all deities and thus the name. The temple is built on a giant elephant shaped natural rock with the image of Lord Ganesha being carved out of this elephant-shaped rock. Not only is it a place of sanctity but it is also blessed with a beautiful locale. Tourists can meditate and enjoy the calmness and peace that surrouns them.
