Gujarat is home to the last of the Asiatic Lions and these majestic beasts roam freely in the Gir National Park. The park which is the brain child of the Nawab of Junagadh, is the only place in the word where you can see the magnificent Asiatic Lions.
The park is thickly populated with forests, thus giving the lions a feel of their natural environment. People coming here are left amazed by the beauty of the place.

The major tourist attraction of Gir National Park are the Asiatic Lions. These lions are bred nowhere in the world other than at the National Park here.
The dense forest coverings provide the best habitat for these endangered species. It is a haven for photographers and wildlife enthusiasts who come here just to see these majestic beasts.

Mitiyala Wildlife Sanctuary
The Mitiyala Wildlife Sanctuary is home to many endangered species like lions, leopards, spotted deer and nilgai to name a few.
It is a great adventure spot and an ideal opportunity for wildlife enthusiasts, who can capture the animals in their natural habitats.
There is a jungle safari here wherein you can hop onto a jeep and roam these forests to sight animals.

Pania Wildlife Sanctuary
The Pania Wildlife Sanctuary is an extension of the National Park. Opened in the year 1989, the sanctuary houses many wild animals like lions, leopards, wild boars, nilgai and more.
This densely populated forest is a hub for nature lovers too, as there are many species of wild plants that grow here in abundance.

How to Reach Gir National Park
By Air: The nearest domestic airport is that of Keshod, which lies at a distance of 90 km from Gir National Park. Another airport nearby is the Diu Airport which is around 100 km from the park. There are flights from Mumbai to both these airports.
By Train: The nearest Railway Station is at Junagadh, which is located at a distance of 82 km. It is well connected with Ahmedabad and Mumbai.
By Road: The nearest city to the National Park is Junagadh, which is about 60 km away from here. Buses are available from Junagadh to the park.
