Delhi Metro has issued a Yellow Line passenger advisory for Wednesday, October 7, cautioning commuters about regulated services on select stretches. Expect controlled entry at busy stations, brief operational holds, and slower platform clearance during rush windows. DMRC’s Notices and Alerts currently lists a Yellow Line advisory, so plan buffer time and keep alternate routes ready for peak periods.
Regulated services do not mean a shutdown. Recently, DMRC managed crowds by closing entry and exit at central stations while keeping interchanges open. On October 2, gates were shut at 11–12 stations, yet riders could still change lines at key hubs. Expect similar crowd-flow tactics today if pressure spikes at core interchanges.

Yellow Line passenger advisory: interchanges and alternates
If your interchange is regulated, detour before reaching it. To bypass Rajiv Chowk, change at Mandi House or Kashmere Gate. If New Delhi’s interchange slows, use the Airport Express from Shivaji Stadium or take the Magenta Line to Terminal 1 via Hauz Khas. Central Secretariat users can swap at Mandi House or Kashmere Gate without entering Rajiv Chowk.
Yellow Line passenger advisory: peak-hour gaps and live tracking
Build for wider gaps. As of August 31, DMRC lists Yellow Line frequency near 5–6 minutes in peaks and 7–8 minutes off-peak. Add at least ten extra minutes for controlled entry, especially around Azadpur, INA, Hauz Khas, Kashmere Gate, and New Delhi. If crowds swell, switch to Pink or Magenta earlier and rejoin Yellow downstream where platforms thin.
Track status before boarding. Use the Delhi Metro Sarthi app, which consolidates journey tools and service updates; DMRC says downloads have crossed one crore.
