It's almost that time of the year, when people are planning their road trips and what exactly they need to pack to keep the show on the road during the summer vacations. Road trips are quite exciting and they get even more overwhelming when your friends join you for the same. But, out of excitement you should not leave some of the most important things back at home. Preparations for a road trip are all about setting yourself comfortable in all situations. So, here is a list of the important things that you should have with you during a road trip.

This may sound boring or you may consider it useless, but it is the most important thing when you are out on a road trip. When you are stuck in an unknown far-off location without any authorised service centre, the car manual kit will be the only one to save you.
2. Medical Kit:
A medical kit is one of the most important things that you should always keep with you. Before going on a road trip, you should pack a bag full of bandages, antibacterial cream, pain
killers, motion sickness pills and other important medicines.
3. Travel Insurance Documents:
Make sure that you have insured your travel beforehand and carry all the necessary documents along with you on a road trip. This will be useful to you in case of an emergency situation or when an unpleasant incident takes place.
4. Phone Essentials:
In this era of smartphones, people use their mobile phones for almost every activity and hence, a USB phone charger is a must while you are travelling. Apart from the charger, a mobile GPS mount is another important thing that should be in your travel kit when you are leaving for a road trip. The GPS mount will help you to navigate roads while you are driving.
5. Water And Food:

During a road trip, you may cross areas where you might not come across shops or restaurants and hygienic food and beverages. Also, it won't be a good idea to put unhealthy food in your system, especially when you are on a road trip. So, if you carry both of these on a road trip, it will help you to stay hydrated and save you from hunger.
While you are travelling, you may pass through different weather conditions or may encounter unexpected rainfall. If you have an umbrella/a raincoat, you can park your car in a safe spot and take shelter in some place, if required.
This is another essential item that you should never miss out on a road trip as there can be countless scenarios where you would be needing this. Make sure that you have extra batteries for the torch along with you so that it never runs out of charge.
8. Notebook And Pen:
During your road trip, these two things will be useful to jot down important information on your way. So, whenever you are planning your road trip, do not forget to pack these along with your travel essentials.
You must be wondering why you need to get your playlist along, especially when you have a radio in your car. The car radio can entertain you for about an hour, but then as you would be crossing different locations, the music stations may get fuzzy. So, it would be better for you to carry your own music playlist on a road trip that will keep you engaged during the drive.
10. Hand Sanitiser:
Public spaces are breeding grounds for germs. So, never forget to carry a hand sanitiser in your travel kit that will be a good defence against those germs. You can also carry a few antibacterial wipes along that will help you in disinfecting your surroundings.
11. Mosquito Repellent Or Bug Spray:

Mosquitoes or insects are there in every place to ruin your planned road trip, mostly during the summer time after sunsets. So, a mosquito repellent cream or a bug spray is a must to keep those little menaces away from you.
It is obvious that you will be having your GPS along with you but it's still important to carry a hard copy of a map that can guide you on a road trip, if necessary. There are several places where Google Maps and GPS may not work or you might face some issue with your mobile network. A map will save you in such situations.
It's always better to keep some cash with yourself and it is even more helpful when you are on a road trip. You can't rely on ATMs especially in remote places. So, if you have handy cash, you can pay all the necessary bills such as toll tax, parking metres and others.
14. Garbage Bag:
Once you reach your destination, it's absolutely a painful task to clean up your car. So, if you carry a big garbage bag you can dispose the unnecessary things into it and throw it away in a proper garbage disposal ground.
