Have you ever spotted a flying snake in India? You heard it right! There is a particular species named Chrysopelea among snakes, that can actually fly! Scary, isn't it? But don't be. Their venom is only dangerous to their small preys. Chrysopelea, commonly called as flying snake or gliding snake, moves vertically up a tree and upon reaching the end of a tree branch , it makes a J-shape bend and propels itself forward choosing the inclination. In India, flying snakes are mainly spotted in west Indian states like Gujarat.

Flying squirrels are a tribe of 44 species of squirrels in the family Sciuridae. They are not capable of a flight in the same way as bats or birds but rather uses a furry, parachute-like membrane to glide from one tree to another. And their long tail acts as the stabilizer! This guy here is a born aeronautic!! North east India is a home to some of these flying squirrel species. Their holotypes are preserved in the collection of the Zoological Survey of India, Kolkata.

Draco dussumieri or southern flying lizard is a species of agamid lizard that are capable of gliding from tree to tree! Found in the Western Ghats and hill forests of South India, the species was first described as "Dussumier's dragon"! It seems like a dragon got really screwed up!

It is sort of an herbivore, which makes it a little less dangerous for other animals but no less creepy. They carry a lot of diseases with them! They live in tropical forests and swamps, near bodies of water. They also live on coastal islands.
