Meghalaya is truly a fascinating destination which would keep on surprising you with its unexplored gems. Meghalaya in translation means the abode of clouds and is a state with cool mountains, set atop rocky cliffs. The place is home to some of Asia's wettest places, lengthy caves, scenic lakes, natural bridges and beautiful cascading waterfalls.

The Garden of Caves is a natural habitat which has been created by seasonal waterfalls that are fed by rains. Surrounded by green bushes and hedges, the place is the abode of caves and waterfalls. Officially declared as a tourist space in the year 2010, the place is, however, lesser known and is known only to those who have not taken the beaten path.

The garden and the caves have been here since time immemorial. The caves were used by the Khasi tribe members to hide themselves away from the British during their rule in the country.

The garden is surrounded by a dense jungle. The structures are lightened up by natural light, when the golden rays of the sun reflect on the ponds and in turn also light up the whole space, creating a very spellbinding activity to watch.

The beautiful views of the waterfalls can be enjoyed at close quarters and also from atop the bamboo bridges which are located at the entrance of the garden. However, the place has no hotels, eateries, etc. here; hence, it is advisable to carry your own light food and simply enjoy the beauty of the place.
