For travelers who dream of exploring the peaceful beauty of the Northeast and the magical land of Bhutan, there is great news. The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has launched a new 14-day tour called the Bharat-Bhutan Mystic Mountain Tour. Starting from Delhi's Safdarjung Railway Station on June 28, 2025, this tour offers a chance to explore nature, culture, and spirituality in a single trip.

From Delhi to the Hills of Northeast India
The journey begins with a train ride to Guwahati, the gateway to Northeast India. Here, travelers will visit the famous Kamakhya Temple, a sacred Shakti Peetha located on the Nilachal Hills. After this spiritual start, the group heads by road to Shillong, known as the "Scotland of the East." On the way, they can enjoy the calm beauty of Umiam Lake.
In Shillong, tourists will visit beautiful and important places like the Cathedral Church, Ward's Lake, and the Don Bosco Museum. These visits offer a chance to understand the rich local culture and natural beauty.
Nature's Wonders in Cherrapunji and Beyond
One of the most exciting parts of the trip is the visit to Cherrapunji. This place is known for its amazing natural views and being one of the wettest places on Earth. Travelers will see the stunning Seven Sisters Falls, the tall Nohkalikai Falls, and explore the natural beauty of the Mawsmai Caves. On the return to Shillong, the Elephant Falls will also be visited.
Crossing into Bhutan: A Land of Peace and Tradition
After enjoying Northeast India, the group will enter Bhutan through the Hasimara Railway Station in West Bengal and move on to Phuentsholing. Once immigration formalities are complete, the journey continues to Bhutan's capital, Thimphu. Here, tourists will visit Buddha Point, the Thimphu Handicraft Market, and the grand Tashi Chho Dzong.
The tour continues to Punakha, where travelers will pass through the scenic Dochula Pass and visit the beautiful Punakha Dzong. In Paro, they will experience a base trek to the famous Tiger's Nest Monastery, visit Lamperi Royal Botanical Park and Paro Dzong, enjoy a traditional hot stone bath, and attend a cultural dinner show.
